Hello,
A fire at City Hall this morning destroyed the roof and although at this point the actual extent of damage is unknown, it looked like smoke and water heavily damaged the second and first floors. The building was unoccupied when the fire began sometime around midnight. The computer servers with whatever digital information was on them were saved. But given that water was poured on the building for six hours, much historical paper will be lost. Fortunately there was no damage to the surrounding houses and buildings.
Where, when, and how temporary city offices will be set up will be determined in the coming days. (If interested, I posted several photos of the fire on the facebook page, bisbee community https://www.facebook.com/groups/1459070177702318/
Get the slingshots ready, Bisbee may be taking on the State. The council voted (5-1 w/Cline voting against) to contest the AG if he finds that Bisbee is violating a state law forbidding banning of plastic bag. The huge issue here is State vs. local control. Can the State usurp the legal right of a Charter city to deal with matters of purely local control. City attorney Britt Hansen has filed an 8-page response to the complaint with the AG's office. I couldn't find the actual letter but here is a AZ Star article: http://tucson.com/news/local/stay-out-of-plastic-bag-law-bisbee-tells-state-attorney/article_fd587b9a-54d8-55d1-9e9e-553dcce8eea2.html

YAHOO...3 BILLION ACCOUNTS HACKED If you have a yahoo account, mail or otherwise, it would be prudent to immediately change your password and security questions. It would be wise to change to another mail service. Verizon, who recently bought Yahoo, said that all accounts at Yahoo were breached, 3,000,000,000. Whatever info was in your account was stolen. If you use a Yahoo email account for other accounts, change it immediately. Here's how to move your yahoo email to gmail and delete your yahoo account if you so choose. Be careful though to not lose important info/emails in your yahoo account, not everything can be transferred. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-delete-your-yahoo-account/?ftag=CAD3c77551&bhid=24867379272108267615610596432948 <><><><><><><><><><><>< HIJACKING THE MIND: HOW IT IS BUILT INTO TECHNOLOGY This long article talks about how some of the inventors of the most habit forming tech motions in software applications (like buttons, red colored icons, push notifications, etc.) have concluded that human minds are not only being hijacked but neuro-networks reformed by tech companies. “The technologies we use have turned into compulsions, if not full-fledged addictions,” Eyal writes. “It’s the impulse to check a message notification. It’s the pull to visit YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter for just a few minutes, only to find yourself still tapping and scrolling an hour later.” None of this is an accident, he writes. It is all “just as their designers intended”. The same forces that led tech firms to hook users with design tricks, Williams says, also encourage those companies to depict the world in a way that makes for compulsive, irresistible viewing. “The attention economy incentivizes the design of technologies that grab our attention,” he says. “In so doing, it privileges our impulses over our intentions.” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/05/smartphone-addiction-silicon-valley-dystopia?utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=GU+Today+USA+-+Collections+2017&utm_term=247032&subid=20881720&CMP=GT_US_collection

about 2/3rds are suicide 22,000...85% male and 1/2 of those 45 and older
about 1/3rd are homicides-12,000. Half are young men and 2/3rds of are black young men
1700 death are women, many from domestic violence
Remainder of deaths are accidents

"If we focus on mass shootings as a means of understanding how to reduce the number of people killed by guns in this country, we’re likely to implement laws that don’t do what we want them to do — and miss opportunities to make changes that really work. Gun violence isn’t one problem, it’s many. And it probably won’t have a single solution, either."

NESTLE TURNS WATER INTO MONEY IN MICHIGAN (and soon in Phoenix)
In the category of 'ain't capitalism something' category...Nestle pays $200 a year to process water next door to Flint Michigan. They will open a plant in Phoenix in 2018 that will process 35 million gallons of city water. And Niagrara is opening a plant in Mesa to process 40 million gallons of city water. LITEFEET IS DIFFERENT THAN BREAK DANCING
The streets are alive with sound of....shooz. I couldn't do these moves even in my prime...Here's a primer of the moves.
Whereas break-dancing is about getting down on the floor, litefeet is all jumps and fast floaty footwork performed to dance music and chants. (See the basics below.)
